Oklahoma city zoo

We went to the zoo this week. I had the kids take a notebook and write down three animals, where they lived and what they ate. I was shocked to realize that the little information signs frequently didn't include what the animals ate.

So, at least each of the kids picked out three animals and Liliana was the one who made sure she picked a snake! We have been looking up one per kid per day and putting some facts about them and a picture in a notebook. I figure soon, we will read them together to learn more about each animal that was picked. They are already wanting to look up more animals than the ones that were already picked!

Sarah at 8 months

Sarah turned 8 months old last week! Time has flown by so fast. She is pulling up and crying Mama. She is pretty fast at her army crawl but soon she will take off on her hands and knees. She already gets on her knees a lot and usually uses that position for a power lunge forward to get something that is just out of her reach. She is very interactive with her siblings. No parallel playing for her! She loves to eat everything!

White Water Bay

We took the kids to homeschool day at White Water Bay yesterday. I left my camera at home. We arrived an hour before closing but still had plenty of time to play in the pool. The older boys did a money bar sort of thing to cross the pool. Qorban did a couple of slides and went with me down the Pirate Plunge. That was a much faster than I expected slide on a tube! We had a blast. We hope to go next year and have more time to do more stuff.

the chase is on!

Christopher ran into the kitchen and hid behind me, clutching his new spaceship that he got for his birthday. He cried, "She is trying to take my new toy." I looked around because no one seemed to be chasing him and saw Sarah, pulling herself into the kitchen with her arms on her belly. She was clearly chasing Christopher and having a great time!

Christophers's 4th birthday!

We celebrated 4 years of Christopher yesterday! We love how his smile just lights up the room and his unstoppable energy and determination to pursue his goals. We love you, Christopher!
Kids also love that birthdays are days out of school! We spent the day making paper bag pinatas, making party hats, playing a claw game (taking kitchen salad tongs and picking small toys from a box), watching movies and playing on the computer.

GKGW annual camp out

This year we went to Stroud Lake. It was really nice.

There was not as many families there this time. We had lots of just chill out time. The weather was perfect, maybe even a little cool as the kids were always cold when we got out of the water. We got to take a boat ride and Qorban even got to try kneeboarding. He wasn't able to get up, maybe next year!

just to remember the way things really are....

Mika spent the last two weeks of July with us for swim lessons. Zoey was with us the final week and she also had swim lessons. Both girls did great in swim lessons. On Tuesday, we woke up with a stomach bug. Liliana and Mika were sick from waking up, Zoey started a little later in morning. I started getting sick in the early afternoon. The boys were sick before night time. Qorban and Liliana actually slept in my bed with me, Qorban threw up several times during the night so the three of us were up quite a bit of the night. About 7 in the morning, Sarah woke up and Zoey got up and brought her to me. Zoey went back to bed. I fed Sarah in bed. Qorban and Liliana woke up and began talking. Mika walks my room, loudly declaring, "I was up FIRST!" Zoey yells from her bed, "No, I was up FIRST!" Qorban and Liliana proclaim, "We were up all night so we were FIRST!" I want to scream if I here the word 'first' again but at least it meant that everyone was feeling better.
