Scouts fun day

Cub Scouts fun day was lots of fun. Lugging Sarah around all morning was great exercise for my arms too. The kids got to shoot bows and arrows, shoot BB guns and paddle a canoe. All these were first time experiences for my kids. We did not go on the nature hike. It looked like a REAL hike! Maybe next month when we camp. We finished off the morning with hot dogs and chips and then headed home. We parents were exhausted!

Nine months old

Sarah is now nine months old! She began crawling on her hands and knees last weekend, just before she turned 9 months. Usually she has been crawling on her hands, right knee and left foot. Always ready to sit up. She loves to laugh and thinks her brothers and sister are really funny. She will pick up anything from the floor or ground and put it in her mouth. She now weights 16 pounds and half an ounce.  She is 27 inches tall.

Caleb's 8th birthday

Caleb turned eight today!  We celebrated with a special birthday breakfast of pancakes and bacon. We all told Caleb why he is special to us. We love his passion for the things he loves. He is a great big brother and lots of fun to play with. He loves his trains and Woody from Toy Story and legos.  He will play alone more than any of my other kids. If he doesn't like what the other kids or neighbors are doing he doesn't mind going on inside and playing his own game. I think his ability to not worry about what others think will help him to make wise decisions in the future.

Our first attempt at a volcano

We made a volcano. We didn't make the clay right so it never quite dried hard, we had teal and red paints to paint it. Then when we made our lava, I had forgotten that I was out of red food coloring so we made it yellow. But it was fun and it was our project. I am sure we will do this again.

Disney on Ice Dare to Dream

Most of these photos were snapped before the show began, as we got settled in our seats and got snacks ready. The show was pretty amazing.

Grandma paid for us all to go see Disney on Ice at the state fair.

Oklahoma State Fair

No sweets before age of 2?

I was dreaming if I thought that my younger kids would not get sweets before they were toddlers!

Another big branch

almost all the big branches are down now. At least I don't think any of the remaining branches will hit our house but some might hit the power lines. So far, God has protected us and allowed them to fall in the front yard, usually the day after I have mowed.

Osage Orange Tree

The female Osage Orange Tree makes these big money balls that my kids were playing with at Lake Texoma. The tree is native to Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Before barb wire, they were planted to make hedge fences as they have strong wood and thorns. The wood is also used for Indian bows and arrows and makes excellent fence posts that will not rot or be destroyed by bugs. The fruit is not really good for anything but the squirrels love the seeds. With lots of work the seeds inside can be removed and eaten by people.

Lake Texoma

We met my brother Robert and his wife Michelle at Lake Texoma Wednesday morning.

It was an absolutely beautiful day to go to the lake!

Chickasaw Cultral Center

We visited the Chickasaw Cultural

Center in Sulphur. It was very interesting. We went through the impressive exhibit hall and saw some really neat things and watched some very informative videos. No flash photos were allowed in there and I needed both hands to hang on to my kids but we took some photos when we visited the Indian village there. We missed the stomp dance and the story telling was when Christopher needed a nap and Sarah was hungry so we missed both the things I wanted to see. We will have to try again another time.
