hair extensions

We spent several hours twisting yarn into Liliana's hair on Saturday. I think it turned out really cute. We tested it this afternoon in the little backyard pool to see if we would need to take them out for swim lessons but I think it is going to be fine.

loving reading stories to siblings!

new schedule (again) :)

I created a new schedule for our days, trying to give Bible reading, personal care, house work and school work priority. Then when responsibilities are done, free time. This has been met with much resistance and just general bad attitudes. Even Sarah blew raspberries at the posted schedule when I paused by it to see what was suppose to be happening. She has definitely been a challenge to a time schedule and I continue to tweak it to fit what we can do. I am hoping that as we get this down, then when it comes time to begin next school years work there won't be as much resistance to the heavier work load when we add more school subjects. I am hoping to begin soon so I can leave one week day each week free from assigned work for field trips, library time, errands and just general catch up days.

Time with the Elliotts

We spent July 5th with the Elliotts from Colorado. We went to the zoo in the morning and then in the afternoon, we swam at Keystone Lake. The Maxwells and Wayne and Nancy met at the lake too. The kids had a lot of fun playing in the lake with their friends. Then they roasted hot dogs and had smores. I had originally planned to camp overnight with the kids because I thought I might be too tired to drive home but then when we got there I decided that I wasn't up to that and drove back home anyways.

Tulsa Zoo

IT WAS HOT! We saw most of the big animals and we got to the penguins at feeding time. It was neat to learn more about their African penguins and watch them eat and swim.

Fourth of July Parade

The Fourth of July parade! 20 min and lots of candy. Liliana was in the trailer with the girls who were in cheer camp with her. Sarah was laying down in the stroller until the boys started putting candy on the tray of the stroller. She sure perked up then! She sat up enough to grab a skittles package and then laid back to attempt to understand it. It was funny.

digital scrapbook

I have a digital scrapbook program that I bought years ago. I have never been able to figure out how to get my pictures into the program. The other day, I noticed that Qorban was using it to create superhero newspapers and magzine covers. I asked him how he got his pictures on there. He says, 'It is easy mom. I find the pictures on line and save them to a file that I created on the desk top. Then when I am ready for the pictures, I open my file and use them." I spent quite a while with him trying to figure out how to get my pictures into the program without luck. I think he is figuring out that mommy doesn't know that much about computers. I don't get how he understands so much.

Sarah moved rooms

Last week, Sarah moved from the room she was born in to Liliana's room. We put the crib up and she has been sleeping in it fairly well. She does get her legs stuck in the bars though. Liliana called it baby jail.
Liliana helped me change Sarah's 3-6 mo clothes out for her 6-9 month clothes. It was fun to watch her oh and ah at all the pretty dresses and help me match the dress 'butts' (as Liliana called them) to the dresses.
