Wednesday night church
Wednesday night the message was about the adulteress woman. Remember her, caught in the act of adultery, she is brought before Jesus for judgement. They said the law says to stone her and were ready with stones. Jesus wrote in the sand with his finger. Then he said, who ever is without sin can throw the first stone. They all slowly left and the woman was alone before Jesus. Then he told her if no one judged her than he didn't either, go and sin no more.
Now, what was life like for this woman now? Everyone knows she is an adulteress. She can not pretend it didn't happen. Her family is shamed. What can she do now? She has just received forgiveness from the Lord himself.
She will always be known as an adulteress. She cannot hide her past. Even Rahab who saved the spies was descibed as a prostitute in the New Testament even though her life was changed and she is in the linage of Jesus Christ! Her adultery becomes her scar. People can see scars and talk about scars but scars usually do not hurt any more. Our scars become something that we can use to relate to others to tell about the great forgiveness of our savior.

Honeylocust tree
Sarah outside
My parents then pulled in the driveway to fix the lawn mower.
I left Sarah in her swing and told her brothers to stay with her. When I turned around to look, Sarah was going down the slide! She seemed to like it but I still went and got her.

meaning of church
The word church comes from a Greek week which means "that which is called out." People who are called out from the rest of the people to serve and obey God were the first church.
Now, church refers to any religious group or the building where they meet.
I asked my son what church means and he said that is where we go to worship God and learn about God. That is kind of what I think of church too.
But looking back to the orginal defination, being part of the church of God requires action on our parts as we serve and obey God. That is not a private personal thing but something that is done with other members of the church.
